Assignments for Grades 1–10

Homework was built for a world before AI.

SOYL turns your notes into interactive assignments that students work out for themselves, with hints that never give the answer. You approve every question, and see how each pupil got there.

  • You approve every question
  • Hints never give the answer
  • Every attempt is kept

01The shift

Now change the assignment.

Same topic, same class. One asks for an answer AI can write in seconds. The other asks students to do the thinking.

The energy challenge

Your school must cut its electricity use by 25%.

  • Explain why they work.Understand
  • Defend one trade-off to the principal.Defend

Same subject. Very different learning.

02The SOYL Method

Learning is a verb.

Every SOYL assignment asks for at least one of five things a generated answer can’t fake.

  1. 01

    Understand

    Know more than the answer.

  2. 02

    Apply

Use it in a new situation.

  3. 03

    Create

    Make something with it.

  4. 04

    Defend

    Explain why, not just what.

  5. 05

    Reflect

    Look again. Do it better.

03How it works

From notes to evidence.

Start from what you already teach. SOYL drafts; you decide; students do the work; you see the thinking.

  1. 1

    Upload your notes

Start from the notes you already teach with. SOYL drafts interactive questions from them.

  2. 2

    You approve every question

Edit, reorder or reject. Nothing reaches students until you say so.

  3. 3

    Students work it out

Unlimited attempts and step-by-step hints that never give the answer away.

  4. 4

    See each pupil’s path

A class heatmap of attempts and hints shows who struggled, where, and who got there alone.

Your attempts

  1. Place a point, then check it.

Unlimited attempts. Every try is kept, so the teacher sees the path, not just the score.

What we believe

We don’t want students to stop using AI.

We want learning that still requires them to think.

04Subjects and simulators

Less busywork. More doing.

Simulators for maths, physics and chemistry let students move things and see what happens, not just pick an option.

07FAQ

Common questions about SOYL Academy

What is SOYL Academy?

SOYL Academy is an assignment platform for Grades 1 to 10. Teachers turn their own notes into interactive assignments, students work them out with unlimited attempts and step-by-step hints, and teachers see how each pupil got there. It is built by SOYL AI Private Limited in Bengaluru, India.

Who writes the questions, the AI or the teacher?

The teacher decides. SOYL drafts questions from the teacher’s notes, and nothing reaches students until the teacher has reviewed, edited and approved it.

Do the hints just give students the answer?

No. Hints are step-by-step nudges that never reveal the answer. Students can try as many times as they need, and every attempt and hint is recorded so the teacher can see the process, not just the score.

What is the SOYL Method?

The SOYL Method is an outcome-based framework designed to make student thinking visible. It replaces transactional submissions with five demonstrations of learning: Understand, Apply, Create, Defend and Reflect.

What is outcome-based learning?

Outcome-based learning designs every assignment around what a student should be able to do, rather than only what they should know. Each step of the work has a clear purpose, so students practise a real skill instead of memorising content.

Does SOYL Academy ban AI in the classroom?

No. SOYL Academy treats AI as a thought partner, not a shortcut. Students may use AI tools, but they must explain their process, defend their choices and show that the ideas are their own, so using AI does not replace thinking.

Does SOYL Academy replace teachers?

No. Educators stay at the centre of every SOYL experience. The tools are designed to amplify a teacher’s reach and reduce administrative burden, while pedagogical decisions, relationships and final assessments remain entirely human.

How can a school start with SOYL Academy?

Schools begin with a pilot of roughly ten weeks: Introduce (weeks 1–2), Implement (weeks 3–8) and Evaluate (weeks 9–10). To start, book a demo and the SOYL team will walk you through the platform and the pilot plan.
